Here is a feature story about the ‘Chess Killer’ in Russia and his sentence:

      http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/europe/10/29/russian.killer/

Alexander Pichushkin, the ‘Chess Killer’ got this name from his plan to kill one person for every square on the chess board. He claims to have killed 63 people but evidence shows that the number was 48. After trial he was sentenced to life in prison and must undergo mandatory psychiatric therapy.

He claims to have killed more people than he really did? Weird.

That is quite common among serial/mass murderers who attain some notoriety, e.g. Albert “the Grey Man” Fish (IMO, the personification of pure evil.) He was more unconscionably evil than the demon in my avatar.
