I just found out that there are “woman’s chess championships”.
My question is:
what is the need to segregate chess games by sex?

I don’t believe it’s a need. I believe it’s a marketing technique.

What do you mean i don’t get it

Generally speaking, men dominate chess. The best players in the world are men. The world champion has always been a man. The most famous chess talents one sees on television have traditionally been men

This is, of course, terrible marketing if one wants to induce women to take up our noble game

Just as Bobby Fischer’s emergence on the scene proved to the American public that you didn’t have to be a Soviet to be great at chess, the recognition of powerful female players allows other women to see that chess is not just a man’s game.

I know its a men game but there should be a woman chess champion game too in order to find out top woman what do you think ?

In order to give exposure to top women players, it is nice to have a woman’s chess champion. Indeed, coming up in the United States there will be a United States Women’s Chess Championship. This should set an example that excellence in chess is not reserved to men.

Of course, there is a recognition in chess that the women’s champ is not as strong as the world champion. By and large, the game is still male-dominated

I think women’s competitions should continue for now and women should get better training and encouragement so that they can compete with men and a common championship can be organized after a few years.
