List of 83 Chess Grandmasters From India (Aug 2023)

As of 1 August 2023 there are 83 chess grandmasters in India. First grandmaster from India was Viswanathan Anand. He accomplished this in 1987. In July 2023, Aditya Samant from Maharashtra became India’s 83rd grandmaster in chess after crossing 2500 Elo points. Samant, who is 17 years old, became a chess grandmaster while competing in the BielChess MTO 2023 event. He obtained FIDE master title in 2020 and International master (IM) in 2022. He is at 49 place in FIDE top 100 juniors list for August 2023 with rating 2511.
